Portfolio Analysis: AD/ADRD research ontology, public database (Milestone 15.A)
Develop a common AD and ADRD research ontology, as a unified classification system for comparative analysis of research portfolios, and strategic planning, and create a publicly available database that will house the AD and ADRD research portfolios from AD funding agencies in the US and abroad.
Success Criteria
Recruitment of all federal and non-federal funding agencies in the US as well as AD and ADRD funding agencies from countries that have an AD National Plan to participate in this database.
Summary of Key Accomplishments
Through a public private partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association, NIA initiated and implemented the development of the common AD/ADRD research ontology (CADRO) as a unified AD/ADRD research classification system, and the International AD/ADRD Research Portfolio, a publicly available searchable database hosting the AD/ADRD research portfolios of federal and non-federal funding agencies in the US and internationally. To date, the International Alzheimer’s and Related Dementias Research Portfolio (IADRP) has brought together the AD/ADRD portfolios of more than 40 funding agencies from ten countries.
The key accomplishments summary is current as of March 2022.
