The laboratory of Molecular Gerontology (LMG) works on genomic instability and how that leads to aging.  We study DNA maintenance and repair using biochemical approaches, cell biology and in animal models. These include nematode worms and mouse models mimicking human diseases of accelerated aging. We also study mitochondria and bioenergetics as it relates to disease and aging. We are developing interventions that slow down the aging process and counter neurodegeneration.
