Cardiac Biology Section

The Cardiovascular Biology Section was formed in 2000 and is comprised of four units: Human Studies Unit, Basic Cardiac and Vascular study Units and Receptor Signaling Unit. The present primary research focus of the Cardiac Unit is on mechanisms of pacemaker cell function.

  • The relationship between ROS, the redox state, and the function of mitochondria, and,
  • The role of NO in excitation-contraction coupling in heart.
