Research in our laboratory focuses on the study of immune cell development and function. In particular, we address the development of conventional and innate immune cells in the thymus and the generation of gut-associated immune cells and the microbiome. We are interested in understanding the role of immune cells, gut-associated immune cells and the microbiome in the development of age-related chronic systemic inflammation and age-related neurological ailments including EAE, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease.
Ongoing projects include:
Study of transcription factors that regulate the development, maintenance and aging of thymic lymphocytes as well as epithelial cells.
Study of innate and adaptive immune cells in chronic neurological diseases.
Development of age-associated changes in gut-associated microbiome.
Age-associated systemic inflammation and its role in chronic neurological diseases.
