R43 and R44: Small Business Innovation Research Grants (SBIR) Grants
The SBIR Program (R43 and R44 research grant mechanisms) supports research and development of aging- and health-focused products and services by small business concerns (SBCs) that may ultimately lead to commercialization.
The SBIR Program requires that the principal investigator (PI) have her/his primary employment (greater than 50%) with the SBC at the time of the award and during the conduct of the project.
The total amount of all contractual costs and consultant fees may not exceed 33% for a Phase I (R43) or 50% for a Phase II (R44) of the total costs requested.
Please refer to the NIA SBIR-STTR page for listings of the annual NIH SBIR-STTR Omnibus Solicitation and NIA-specific SBIR-STTR Funding Opportunity Announcements.
