Pathways and Mechanisms Linking Early Life Adversities (ELAs) and Adult Health Outcomes
On January 31 and February 1, 2017, the Interdisciplinary Research Network on Early Adversity & Later Life Reversibility, supported by the National Institute on Aging (NIA) and the UK Economic & Social Research Council (ESRC) and Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), convened an international workshop to discuss dimensions of early life adversity (ELA) and consider three potential pathways linking ELA to disease: metabolic, inflammatory, and epigenetic. The goal of the meeting was to explore current research in this field, identify the key questions related to this research, and generate discussion of future research needs. A workshop summary (PDF, 653K) is available.
