Shifting Academic Health Centers From a Culture of Community Service to Community Engagement and Integration

This article discusses the need for academic health centers to closely engage with communities. The authors establish barriers and facilitators, ultimately noting that to support long-term community partnerships, academic health centers will need to establish new infrastructure, support community-engaged scholarship and teaching, and integrate community members as advisors and collaborators.
