A Mini-Review of Strategies for Recruiting Older African Americans to Alzheimer’s Disease Research

This article analyzed peer-reviewed studies that tested strategies to increase research participation among older African Americans. The authors found that community outreach, face-to-face discussions, and partnerships with local organizations effectively increased recruitment of this underrepresented group. These strategies were especially effective when combined with approaches that emphasize transparency and mutual trust and involve the community as stakeholders in the research process.
