HealthStreet Community Engagement Program

People sitting around a conference tableThis community engagement program at the University of Florida bridges the gap between health care and health research by providing health education, health screenings, and wellness resources. HealthStreet also links diverse participants with clinical studies. According to the organization, as of April 2018 it had 11,150 members, nearly 50 percent of whom have been directed to a research study. Of those, 41 percent were enrolled in a research study.

HealthStreet also provides University of Florida researchers with facility space for studies, meetings, or classes; survey design assistance; and sociodemographic and health profiles of the north central Florida community for papers and grants. The 1Florida Alzheimer's Disease Research Center is implementing best-practice methods derived from the HealthStreet model.
