Always Acknowledge NIA and NIH Funding
NIA-supported grantees are responsible for acknowledging both the NIH and NIA in text in communications about NIA-support research, for example: “This research was supported by the National Institutes of Health’s National Institute on Aging, grant ####.”
If more than one NIH grant supported the research, please list all the relevant grant numbers.
Unless the communications content has been reviewed and cleared through NIH NIA, grantees also should include a disclaimer such as “This content is solely the responsibility of the authors and does not necessarily represent the official views of the National Institutes of Health’s National Institute on Aging.”
Examples of situations that require formal acknowledgement (and a possible disclaimer) include:
- Journal articles
- Oral or poster presentations
- News releases, stories and blog posts
- Videos
- Interviews with news media or reporters
