Now hiring: Diversity and Inclusion Resource Specialist and DEIA Data Analyst

NIA’s Office of the Deputy Director (ODD) is looking for highly motivated individuals to join as a Diversity and Inclusion Resource Specialist (GS 12/13) and a DEIA Data Analyst (GS 12/13). The Office develops and reports on strategic DEIA efforts and goals for the Institute as well as coordinating Institute-wide DEIA-related programs. The ODD collaborates with key stakeholders to identify DEIA challenges, develop organizational plans, and evaluate and report on the effectiveness of programs. Learn more about each position below.

Diversity and Inclusion Resource Specialist

This position is for a Diversity and Inclusion Resource Specialist at the GS 12/13 level.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this position include:

  • Advise senior leadership on diversity, inclusion, and cross-cultural relations plans and programs.
  • Coordinate and develop sustained internal and external communication programs.
  • Assess the impact of communication programs to refine activities.
  • Inform senior leadership and key stakeholders on potential DEIA issues and matters with an ability to provide alternative solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop organizational plans that foster a diverse workforce.
  • Identify gaps in recruitment efforts and advise on strategic solutions to increase DEIA efforts in recruitment.
  • Use measurement tools to assess the impact of communications programs to refine activities.
  • Be an advocate and critical thinker with partners, including to identify and uplift stories that minimize reputational risk and maximize positive exposure for our work.

Who should apply?

  • Experience identifying DEIA needs and promoting efforts for an organization.
  • Ability to develop strategic goals or plans based off data analysis and stakeholder feedback.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills, including the ability to manage concurrent tasks.
  • Strong communications skills, both oral and written, including strong editorial skills.
  • Ability to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds and advocate for a more diverse and inclusive work environment.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) Data Analyst

This position is for a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) Data Analyst at GS 12/13 level.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this position include:

  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports to create insights and advocate improvements in an organizations strategy and decision making.
  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
  • Acquire data from various disparate NIH data sources and maintain databases/data systems.
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Leverage data visualization techniques to making data more accessible, understandable, and usable. Delivering data in a useful and appealing way to users.
  • Inform senior leadership and key stakeholders on potential DEIA issues and matters and recommend strategies to improve strategic initiatives or programs.

Who should apply?

  • Experience in data analysis to identify trends, gaps, and potential issues.
  • Ability to effectively communicate analytical findings to senior leadership and other key stakeholders.
  • Ability to use analytical findings to conduct root cause analysis and develop strategic goals based on thorough analysis and stakeholder feedback.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office products, including higher-level PowerPoint, Word, and Excel functions.
  • Ability to advise leadership on new technology or data analysis tools.
