Retaining Cognition While Avoiding Late-Life Depression (RECALL)

What Is This Study About?

This study will adapt and test Problem Solving Therapy (PST) as a way to prevent major depression in older adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). The study will also examine the effect of exercise on preventing depression.

Do I Qualify To Participate in This Study?

Minimum Age: 60 Years

Maximum Age: N/A

Must have:

  • Diagnosis of MCI
  • Modified Mini Mental State Examination score of 80 or higher
  • Adequate physical and sensory function to undergo neuropsychiatric assessment
  • PHQ-9 score of 1-9, with at least one of the cardinal symptoms of depression

Must NOT have:

  • Major depressive episode or anxiety disorder within the past year; currently taking an antidepressant
  • History of bipolar disorder or schizophrenia
  • Drug or alcohol use disorder within the past 12 months
  • Currently taking anti-anxiety medication more than four times per week for the past 4 weeks
  • Availability of a support person
