Kristen Maiden received her B.S. in Biology and B.A. in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. While at UNCW, she studied receptor-binding affinities of synthetic tryptamine derivatives with neurological receptors in the laboratory of Dr. Jeremy Morgan. During her post-baccalaureate work at the NIA, she has helped to synthesize new lipid mediators of pain and inflammation under the guidance of Greg Keyes and assisted in various projects to elucidate the biochemical mechanisms of these compounds. She plans to pursue an M.D.
