Chelsea HAAKENSON

Biography
Dr. Chelsea Haakenson joined the Division of Neuroscience as a Health Program Specialist in the Neurobiology of Aging and Neurodegeneration Branch in January 2022. In this role, she provides programmatic, analytical, and logistical support to program directors in the branch. Chelsea comes to the NIA from the University of Maryland, College Park where she received her Ph.D. in Neuroscience and Cognitive Science. Her doctoral work focused on the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying the motivation to engage in vocal communication, specifically investigating the role of dopamine and steroid hormones in the production of song by social songbirds.
