Dr. Eren completed his Ph.D. under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sermin Genc in Dokuz Eylul University (Izmir, Turkey) in 2018. In his studies, he focused on blood-based biomarkers to identify people with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and the development of new assays for the detection of novel targets using different assay technologies such as Simoa and MSD platforms. In 2018, he joined Dr. Kapogiannis’ group at NIA as a postdoctoral fellow. He investigates novel biomarker candidates for identification of preclinical AD using brain-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) isolated from plasma and focuses on investigating different aspects of AD pathology, including mitochondrial dysfunction and Tau spreading between neurons by utilizing plasma brain derived EVs. Furthermore, he is also involved in developing novel assays to utilize EV functions to understand AD pathology.
