Michael DUGGAN

Biography
Dr. Duggan completed his PhD under the supervision of Dr. Kamel Khalili at Temple University in 2020. His dissertation investigated the molecular mechanisms by which HIV proteins disrupt neuronal protein quality control processes implicated in neurodegenerative diseases and cognitive deficits. In 2021, he joined Dr. Keenan Walker’s group at NIA as a postdoctoral fellow. He investigates the molecular biology underlying age-related neurodegenerative disorders utilizing neuroimaging, cognitive, proteomic and genetic methods across large cohort studies, with a particular focus on the factors linked to immune dysregulation, including aging and viral infections.
