Biography

Dr. Mozhgan Boroumand completed her Ph.D. under the supervision of Prof. Tiziana Cabras and Prof. Massimo Castagnola at the University of Cagliari, Italy, in 2019. Her dissertation investigated the extensive proteomics characterization of basic proline-rich proteins in human saliva and the investigation of their properties as substrates of epithelial transglutaminase 2. In 2020, she joined Prof. Castagnola’s group at Santa Lucia Foundation in Rome, Italy, as a postdoctoral fellow. She investigated the proteome/peptidome of biofluids, cell and tissue extract for the characterization of potential disease biomarkers, and bioactive peptides. In 2022, she joined Dr. Nathan Basisty’s group at NIA as a postdoctoral fellow. She investigates the characterization of the intact proteomic profile of the Senescent Associated Secretory Phenotype (SASP) by Top-Down mass spectrometry.
