Anti-Aging Medicines: The Beginning of the End of the Beginning
The Geroscience Interest Group (GSIG) cordially invites you to the seminar listed above. Dr. Miller is a Professor of Pathology and Director of the Nathan Shock Center on Aging at the University of Michigan. He directs one of the three laboratories involved in the NIA-sponsored Interventions Testing Program (ITP) and in that capacity made a seminal contribution to the discovery that rapamycin increases lifespan in mice. His seminar will provide further research information on the ITP, rapamycin and other anti-aging interventions. He has a wide interest in biogerontology, with a special emphasis on the use of animal models to study mechanisms regulating longevity and stress resistance.
The Geroscience Interest Group (GSIG) is a newly formed trans-NIH group aimed at enhancing opportunities for discussion of the intersection between the biology of aging and the biology of diseases and conditions that are of interest across ICs. It is focused on basic biology, but with a longer view towards translation.
