  • Diabetes In Older People—A Disease You Can Manage
    Diabetes is a serious disease. People get diabetes when their blood glucose level, sometimes called blood sugar, is too high. Diabetes can lead to dangerous health problems, such as having a heart attack or stroke. The good news is that there are things you can do to take control of diabetes and prevent its problems. And, if you are worried about getting diabetes, there are things you can do to lower your risk.
  • Kidney Disease: A Silent Problem
    Henry has been having a hard time managing his health. He knows he’s got high blood pressure and diabetes, but he just can’t resist extra helpings of his wife’s fry bread. During a checkup, Dr. Begay tested Henry’s blood. The results showed Henry had developed chronic kidney disease. Henry wondered if the test results could be wrong because he didn’t feel sick.
