What Is This Study About?
This trial will test the impact of cognitive and/or exercise training on cognition in older adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI).
Do I Qualify To Participate in This Study?
Must have:
- Subjective memory complaint
- Minimal impairment in daily function per Functional Activity Questionnaire
- Sedentary
- English speaking
- Access to telephone
Must NOT have:
- Alzheimer's disease or another type of dementia
- Stroke in the past 12 months
- Myocardial infarction in the past 12 months
- Angina
- Parkinson's disease
- Multiple sclerosis
- Epilepsy
- AIDS
- Brain tumor, infection, or surgery; brain injury with loss of consciousness for more than 30 minutes
- Schizophrenia or bipolar disorder
- Cancer with short life expectancy; current chemotherapy or radiation therapy
- Depression
- Alcohol consumption of eight or more drinks per week for women, or 15 or more drinks per week for men
- Prescription of Aricept or Namenda, past or present
- Self-reported difficulty reading a newspaper (low visual acuity); low hearing or communication ability that would interfere with the study
- Past involvement in similar cognitive training studies, programs, or online training
- Past involvement in online brain training or brain fitness programs
- Unable to pass the Exercise Assessment and Screening for You (EASY)
- Living in nursing home
- Unwilling to use a computer or be on videoconferencing
- Baseline systolic blood pressure of >180, diastolic blood pressure of >100; baseline pulse of <40 or >100
