Gene Linked to Alzheimer’s Disease Plays Key Role in Cell Survival
June 10, 2010 -- Scientists have discovered that a gene linked to Alzheimer’s disease may play a beneficial role in cell survival by enabling neurons to clear away toxic proteins. NIH-Supported Study Looks for Earliest Changes in the Brain That May Lead to Alzheimer’s Disease (press release)
Volunteers with memory problems or concerns are being sought for a clinical study examining the subtle changes that may take place in the brains of older people many years before overt symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease appear. Go to ADNI-GO information or call the ADEAR Center at 1-800-438-4380.
DIAN Study Now Recruiting
The DIAN study is seeking biological adult children of a parent with a mutated gene known to cause dominantly inherited Alzheimer’s disease. Visit the DIAN website or call the ADEAR Center at 1-800-438-4380.
GAP Study Now Recruiting
Volunteers are needed for a new trial of gammaglobulin to reduce brain amyloid in people with Alzheimer’s. Go to GAP study information or call the ADEAR Center at 1-800-438-4380.
