Dr. Silverberg received her Ph.D. in cognitive psychology from the University of Arizona. Prior to her appointment at the National Institute on Aging, she was a clinical research scientist at the Sun Health Research Institute (part of the federally funded Arizona Alzheimer's Disease Center). There, she coordinated the American Indian outreach program and was the principal investigator on an Alzheimer’s Association grant to assess the usefulness of various neuropsychological assessment tools in an American Indian population. She is currently the program officer for the Alzheimer's Disease Core Centers as well as manager of the portfolio on clinical course. Her focus is on assessment of cognitive status in people with mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease.
