Notes Regarding Tables I and II
Note 1: (Re: Tables I & II) Data for Table I for the January 2010 Council Round were run on 11/18/2009. Only applications assigned to a division by that date were included in Table 1. Nine applications for the January 2010 Council had not been assigned as of 11/18/09. Applications that had been withdrawn by that date were excluded from Table I. Dollar amounts shown in Table 1 are direct costs only (dollars requested for only the first year).
For Table II, run on 1/4/2010, only applications that had been assigned to a division, reviewed, and percentiled by that time were included. Six grant application in the RPG line did not meet these criteria at the time Table II was prepared (they had not been assigned to a division).

Note 1: Data for Table I were run on 12/2/09. Only applications assigned to a division by that date were included. One ARRA-related applications for the January 2010 Council had not been unassigned as of 12/2/09. Applications that had been withdrawn by that date were excluded from both tables. Dollar amounts shown in Table 1 are direct costs only (dollars requested for only the first year).
Note 2: Data shown in the first row pertain to R15, RC1 and RC3 applications in response to RFAs OD-09-007, OD-09-003 and OD-09-008, respectively. The second row shows data pertaining to R43 applications in response to RFA OD-09-009.
N.B. Applications reviewed for January Council in response to OD-09-003 (Challenge Grants) are those pursuing research on human embryonic stem cells (HESC). These had been deferred from review while the new NIH policy on HESC research was developed and made public.
