FY2010 ARRA RELATED STATISTICAL PACKAGE
The data below pertains to grant applications (received and reviewed for each council round of FY2010) that were ARRA related and are described for each NIA Program Division separately.
-
Division of Aging Biology (DAB):
This Program division received 28 applications (Activity Codes: R15, RC1, RC2, RC3, RC4, R43 and P30) with total dollars requested $11,553.076. Of these 28 applications, 20 of them were not discussed and 8 of them had a priority score between 18 and 59.
-
Division of Behavioral and Social Research (DBSR):
This Program division received 141 applications (Activity Codes: R01, U01, R37, R15, RC2, RC3, RC4, R43, and KM1) with total dollars requested $57,638,658. Of these 141 applications, 96 of them were not discussed and 45 of them had a priority score between 10 and 80.
-
Division of Neuroscience (DN):
This Program division received 82 applications (Activity Codes: R01, R56, U01, P01, R15, RC1, RC3, RC4, R43 and P30) with total dollars requested $42,577,838. Of these 82 applications, 44 of them were not discussed and 38 of them had a priority score between 18 and 70.
-
Division of Geriatrics and Clinical Gerontology (DGCG):
This Program division received 32 applications (Activity Codes: R01, R56, R15, RC3, RC4 and R43) with total dollars requested $15,829,445. Of these 32 applications, 16 of them were not discussed and 16 of them had a priority score between 20 and 48.

Notes Regarding Tables
Note 1: (Table I) Dollar figures shown are requested first year direct costs of competing applications for FY2010 Council rounds.
A total of thirty-four applications, from the four council rounds that make up FY 2010 (October 2009, Jan. 2010, May 2010 and August 2010), had no PCC codes. Totals for grant applications received (Table I) and for grant applications reviewed (Table II) reflect the aggregate sum of all applications previously reported at each council round of FY2010, for each Table.
For Table II, completed on 12/17/2010, only applications that had been assigned to a division, reviewed, and percentiled, by the time that each of the four statistical packages of each council was prepared, have been included. Eighteen applications in the RPG line did not meet this criteria at the time Table II was prepared (it had not been assigned to a division) for each of the four council rounds of FY2010.
Note 2: (Table I) Research Project Grant applications shown in the first line include the following activity codes: P01 (Program Projects), R01 (Research Projects), R03 (Small grant applications), R15 (Academic Research Enhancement Awards), R21 (Exploratory/Developmental Awards), R33 (Exploratory/Developmental Grants Phase II), R34 (Clinical Trial Planning Grants), R36 (Dissertation Awards), R37 ( Method to Extend Research in Time (MERIT) Awards), R56 (High Priority Short Term Project Awards), and U01 (Cooperative Agreements). Contracts are not included. Costs shown are the first year total direct costs requested. Facilities and Administrative costs are not included.
Note 3: (Table I) Data include applications reviewed or to be reviewed by Council, applications considered not competitive, and applications requesting $50,000 or less.
Note 4: (Table I) The data may include competing revisions to existing awards. These revisions are counted as separate applications except in the Center Grants budget category.
Note 5: (Table II) The data include Research Project Grants that were percentiled in review. Therefore, the "number reviewed" in Table II is less than the corresponding number of applications in line 1 of Table I. In addition, applications in response to RFAs are not percentiled. In summary, the data in Table II include Research Project Grant applications to NIA for Council Rounds in FY2009 & 2010 as long as they are not in response to an RFA and have been percentiled.
