ITP

The Interventions Testing Program (ITP) is a peer-reviewed program designed to identify agents that extend lifespan and healthspan in mice. Investigators at any university, institute, company, or other organization are invited to recommend interventions for testing by submitting an application before the February deadline each year. Testing is carried out in the genetically heterogeneous UM-HET3 mouse stock at three sites — the Jackson Laboratory, the University of Michigan, and the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Those whose proposed interventions are accepted for testing by the ITP (“sponsors”) will collaborate with the ITP principal investigators to develop the test protocol and interpret the data and will be asked to serve as coauthors on resulting publications. All data will be made freely available to sponsors for use in their grant applications, research talks, etc.

For more information, see About the ITP.

Application Instructions

The submission deadline occurs once per year on the last weekday in February.
The next deadline is Friday, Feb. 28, 2025.
See Application Instructions and use the Application Form (Word, 32K).

Supported Interventions

The ITP supports the testing of up to six interventions per year.

See Supported Interventions, Publications, and the ITP Data Coordinating Center (DCC) database for information and data on all compounds tested by the ITP since 2004.

Collaborative Interactions Program

Plasma and fixed and frozen tissues collected from select ITP mice at 22 months of age and at the end of life are available to investigators free of charge through the ITP Collaborative Interactions Program (CIP).

For a list of available tissues and instructions for requesting tissue, please visit the CIP.
